Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal has been put on federal government’s Exit Control List (ECL) by Ministry of Interior, said sources privy to the issue.
As per details, Ahsan Iqbal’s name has been put on ECL for his alleged involvement in causing losses to national exchequer in Narowal Sports City Complex project worth billions of rupees.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused Ahsan Iqbal of directing the construction of Narowal Sports City Complex project (formerly known as Sports Stadium Narowal) without any feasibility analysis/report back in 1999.
The project’s cost of Rs 34.74 million was initially approved by Central Development Working Party (CDWP) which was headed by Ahsan Iqbal who then allegedly directed Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and NESPAK to increase project’s cost to Rs 97.52 million.
Ahsan Iqbal has criticized government’s decision to put him on ECL and their failure to address public issues such as sugar price inflation and prevailing COVID-19 wave.
