Religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought announced on Tuesday that Mosques are no longer under lockdown restrictions
Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman said in a press conference with other scholars that Taraweeh congregations and Itikaf will be held as usual and per schedule. He urged people to follow social distancing guidelines while visiting mosques and attending prayers.
Muft Taqi Usmani urged the government to not arrest people coming to attend prayers and to release those who are under arrest currently for the same.
Both scholars asked people to wear masks and come with ablution performed at their homes.
“Remove prayer mats from mosques and ensure sanitizers are available,” he instructed mosque administrators.
He called on people to implement the government’s safety precautions but said that for a Muslim, offering congregational prayers in Ramazan was obligatory.
He stopped the elderly and sick from attending prayers inside mosques and pray indoors. Mufti Usmani also asked people to avoid socializing upon the conclusion of prayers.
