KARACHI: Sindh traders have announced to keep businesses open 24 hours a day until Eidul Fitr, after staging walkout of the talks with Sindh government officials in protest on Sunday.
The announcement came after talks between traders and the Sindh government officials failed, according to sources. The traders left the meeting midway in protest.
Representative of the Sindh Taajir Ittehad Ateeq Mir told media that they will keep the businesses open for as long as they wish.
“Traders will keep the businesses open 24 hours a day until Chand Raat.”
Another trader, Mohammad Rizwan, said they only wished to earn their livelihood, while another trade Shajeel Goplani lamented that the government provided them no relief as the lockdown restrictions took toll on their businesses.
The traders said they were ready to face arrests, but would continue to do business.
The Sindh government, however, said it would continue to seal markets in case of violation of SOPs.
Minister for education Saeed Ghani briefed the media that during the discussion at the National Command and Operation Centre, it was decided that the malls will be not be opened.
“Markets will be sealed if the SOPs are violated,” he asserted.
