Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has expressed disappointment over Sindh government’s decision to not utilize the services of Tiger Force amid coronavirus outbreak in the province.
Addressing a press conference, Imran Ismail stated that it is quite unfortunate that Sindh government has consistently refused to utilize Tiger Force and has turned downed their services in assisting civil administration in dealing with the virus crisis in the province.
According to Governor Sindh, around 157,000 people have registered themselves for Tiger Force in Sindh province alone. Imran Ismail stressed upon the fact that the volunteers of Tiger Force do not represent any political party or political agenda and this initiative is strictly non-political and is only aimed at assisting provincial and local administration in distributing ration and various other relief activities amid COVID-19 crisis.
Furthermore, Tiger Force volunteers will also assist in disbursing cash stipends under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme, he added.
Addressing a press conference at the governor house, Imran Ismail announced that the Tiger Force will be operationalized immediately after Eid ul Fitr.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has assigned the responsibility of the force to me for its voluntary work in the province to be launched immediately after Eid ul Fitr,” said Imran Ismail.
“If in case I have any issue, I am in the habit of directly talking to the chief minister. Likewise, the provincial government should bring to the knowledge of the prime minister if it has any problem,” he added.
Tiger Force volunteers in Sindh include 48,416 students, 2,275 medical workers, 9,251 engineers, 5,931 teachers, 10,293 civil servants, 1,877 armed forces personnel, 3,959 NGO workers, 591 journalists, 15,822 businessmen, 1,099 lawyers, 21,124 social workers, and 3,788 individuals from corporate sector.
