The Islamabad High Court (IHC), on Thursday, issued notice to Federal government on the issue of re-constitution of the 10th National Finance Commission (NFC).
As per the details, during the hearing of the petition filed by PML-N MNA Khurram Dastgir who has challenged the formation of 10th NFC, the court heard the arguments presented by petitioner’s lawyer Omer Gilani and Barrister Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha.
During the hearing Omer Gilani highlighted the fact that Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has also objected and raised his concerns regarding the formation of 10th NFC.
The court expressed its displeasure over the failure of politicians to solve their issues on their own and resorting to judiciary in every matter.
“Whatever you cannot resolve on the assembly floor, you bring it here (to courts),” said Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.
He also warned that a fine will be imposed on the petitioner if the petition is rejected by the court.
The petitioner lawyers have contested that the President cannot convene the meeting in the absence of Foreign Minister.
Hearing the arguments, the court has issued notices to the federal government and other nominated parties in the case to submit their replies.
It is to be noted that President Dr Arif Alvi had approved the 10th NFC on May 12. According to the official notification the committee will decide the financial share of each province and the commission will be presided by Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the absence of Foreign Minister, whereas Federal Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch will also assist the commission.
