International flights operations have resumed from today (Saturday) in Pakistan after a gap of around two months.
The development comes after the federal government decided to restore international flight operations as part of the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions in the country.
“Both national and foreign airlines shall be allowed to operate from all international airports of Pakistan with exception of Gwadar and Turbat,” read the statement issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA).
It is to be noted that only the outbound flight operations have been restored and that the ban on entering Pakistan is still very much in effect.
PCCA has also issued specific guidelines and SOPs for airlines in order to ensure social distancing and coronavirus preventive measures at all times. Furthermore, flights will also be subjected to the rules and guidelines of the destination country.
In addition to it, PCCA has also announced that domestic flight operations will be restored to about 40-45 per cent and it will be commenced from June 1.
