When the whole world especially United States is facing the threat of Coronavirus, President Trump proves himself to be an irresponsible statesman
As the coronavirus pandemic has crippled the global economies and healthcare systems worldwide with United States of America as the most effected country, its President Donald Trump has threatened Iran for an attack and make the country to pay a heavy price if any attack on US troop or assets in Iraq takes place. President Trump has stormed Iran after an intelligence brief and yet to disclose the details of the information behind this threat.
President Trump have completely forgotten what is happening in his country which is the global superpower but becoming helpless against the fight with COVID. Not only the economy has collapsed, millions of Americans have lost their jobs.
The United States has 245,380 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, with 6000 reported deaths. Reportedly, according to the federal government, 100,000 fatalities in the coming months is probably a best-case scenario. Worldwide, the tally of confirmed cases has crossed the one million figure with the death toll climbed upto 54,000.
The threat of President Trump has met with severe criticism from the inner circles of the country. Scholars and research thinktanks have also demanded the Congress to stop Trump to launch a military attack on Iran without Congressional approval.
Iran is one of the most effected country from the pandemic with around 54,000 confirmed case and more than 3,000 deaths. The crisis is in a worst state due to the sanctions imposed by United States on Iran. Trump administration is crippling Iran’s access towards crucial medical supplies for paying no heed to the demands of global leaders, UN Secretary General and even democrats of US congress to loosen the sanctions.
The need of the hour for the US President is to rethink of its policies and to act humanly on the crisis. It could prove to be an opportunity for both countries to deescalate crisis and collaborate with each other to fight together with the menace of Coronavirus.
