Syed Aminul Haque – Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication on Wednesday (today), announced that Pakistan will get 5G technology by next year in December 2022.
The federal minister noted that IT Ministry is working to introduce 5G technology in the country to further enhance and modernize national communication facilities as per the international standards.

Expressing his views at Universal Service Fund contract signing ceremony, Syed Aminul Haque said that his ministry hopes for every Pakistani to have access to smartphone.
The universal Service Fund contract provided to Telenor is worth Rs 1.37 billion and will ensure the provision of high-speed cellphone broadband services in Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir in KPK.
Furthermore, Aminul Haque reassured that Ministry of Information and Technology will continue its support to further strengthen Pakistan’s tourism industry which is essential for sustainable rural development.
Prior to this, Pakistan made history by carrying out world’s first ever experimental 5G video call in a ceremony held in Islamabad on November 4 2020 last year.

5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.
The main advantage of the new networks is that they will have greater bandwidth, giving higher download speeds, eventually up to 10 gigabits per second.
The increased speed is achieved partly by using higher-frequency radio waves than previous cellular networks.0
