At least four people are reported to have been killed in ‘anti-Modi’ protests in Bangladesh against Indian PM Narendra Modi’s visit.
Four people have been killed in Bangladesh’s city of Chittagong as protesters clashed with police which then resorted to baton charge and tear gas shelling to disperse the demonstrators who have took to streets against Indian PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka.
The deceased have been identified as workers of Hefazat-e-Islam group.
It is to be noted that Bangladesh has been rocked by country-wide protests and demonstrations against the visit of Indian PM Narendra Modi.

Hefazat-e-Islam has called for a nation-wide strike to be observed on Sunday March 28th tomorrow against Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Bangladesh on the occasion of country’s 50th Independence Day celebrations.
The group has cited that Indian government under PM Narendra Modi is responsible for subjugating its Muslim minority and propagating right-wing Hindutva ideology.
Hefazat-e-Islam is not the only group that has opposed Narendra Modi’s visit, as various groups and organizations including students and religious outfits have strongly opposed Indian premier’s visit.
Several people along with two journalists have been injured during the clash between protesters and police in Dhaka.
Hefazat-e-Islam has also called for country-wide protests on Saturday (today).
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) – a paramilitary force, has been called in to maintain law and order in the country.
Meanwhile, social media platforms such as Facebook have also been subjected to certain restrictions amid wide-spread protests.
