Pakistan has been put on ‘red list’ by United Kingdom in wake of third COVID-19 wave, subjecting the country to additional travel restrictions.
In a video statement, British High Commissioner – Dr Christian Turner, has apprised that ‘Pakistan has been added to the UK’s red list of travel ban countries.
As per the new travel restrictions, only UK and Irish nationals and people with residency rights in the UK will allowed to travel to Britain.

Furthermore, people eligible to travel to UK will have to pay to stay in mandatory hotel quarantine for 10 days if they had been in Pakistan 10 days prior to their arrival in UK.
The new COVID-19 travel restrictions will come into effect from Friday April 9th.
The development comes as Pakistan is witnessing its third COVID-19 wave. Country’s coronavirus tally stands at 678,165 cases and 14,613 deaths so far.
A total of 607,205 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus, whereas the country still has 56,347 active cases.
A total of 50,170 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 5,234 came back positive, whereas 83 people succumbed to the novel virus during this time period.
