In a joint operation by the South Operations Division and the Investigation Department, Karachi Police have arrested a man involved in throwing acid on a woman in the city’s Upper Gizri area.
According to police sources, the attack took place near a water filtration plant in Upper Gizri, leaving the victim with burn injuries to her face, shoulder, and other parts of her body.
The victim, Mumtaz, registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Clifton Police Station following the incident, after which the suspect fled the scene. Police sources stated that the culprit was traced and apprehended using digital and technical evidence.
The accused has been shifted to the police station, where further legal action will be taken against him.
According to the FIR, the incident took place in a street near the Munawar Filter Plant. The victim, identified as Mumtaz, told police that she was returning home after finishing work at around 1pm when an unidentified man approached her, threw acid at her and fled the scene.
