Blasphemous remarks by Hindu priest sparks protests in IOK

Protests and demonstrations have broken out in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) after blasphemous remarks by a Hindu priest named Satpal Sharma.

Mass protests and demonstrations were held in Ramban, Banihal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Jammu city against blasphemous remarks by a Hindi priest.

The protesters raised their voice against the uploading of blasphemous content by Satpal Sharma, claiming that such act was done on the behest of the Indian government and was approved by Delhi itself.

Demonstrators blocked the highway town of Banihal in Ramban district and demanded strict legal action to be taken against the Hindu priest responsible for such act.

Indian government has imposed strict curfew restrictions in wake of protest call given by Markazi Majlis-e-Shura Kishtwar, Sout-ul-Awaliya, Anjuman-e-Islamia Kishtwar and various other Kashmiri organizations.

Abdul Qayoom Wani – chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum, has said that such blasphemous remarks and acts have hurt Muslim sentiments, and has urged the relevant authorities to take action against the accused to ensure that such incident isn’t repeated.

“The Kashmiris would not tolerate any blasphemous remarks.  |The devout Muslims have been deeply wounded and thousands of people are ready to sacrifice their lives to protect the honor and dignity of the Prophet (PBUH),” said Hurriyat leader Umar Aadil Dar.
