Cabinet Division has warned government officials about recent cyber-attacks by hackers aimed at retrieving data from WhatsApp accounts.
According to the advisory issued by Cabinet Division, government officials have been instructed to abstain from opening unverified links and entering codes, as hackers are attempting to breach phone security by first sending and SMS and WhatsApp messages asking people to open the attached link.

Upon opening the link, people are asked to enter a code which is followed by a phone call from an international number, and as soon as a person receives this call, all their data is leaked to the hackers.
Hence, government employees an officials have been advised to not receive any unknown calls of international origin and not to open nay unverified links.
