A massive fire broke out at a factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone (EPZ) on Monday, prompting a large-scale firefighting and rescue operation, officials said.
The fire was declared a third-degree blaze, the highest level of fire emergency, by the chief fire officer.
Rescue 1122 teams, fire brigade vehicles and ambulances were dispatched to the site after the fire engulfed the factory. Around 10 fire tenders and two snorkels were taking part in the firefighting operation to bring the blaze under control.
The fire caused significant financial losses, as the factory was filled with goods and other materials when the blaze broke out. A large number of workers were present inside the premises, while the ground and first floors of the building were badly damaged.
