Prime Minister Imran Khan met with China’s Minister of National Defense – General Wei Fenghe on Tuesday (today).
According to Prime Minister’s office, the two discussed matters of mutual interests and bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Secretary Foreign Office and other high-level government officials.
Both PM Imran and General Wei Fenghe reiterated their resolve to further strengthen time-tested and proven Pak-China relations.
Earlier in the day Chinese Minister of National Defence General Wei Fenghe was conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) by the Pakistan government for his role and services to strengthen Pak-China ties.
President Arif Alvi conferred the Chinese dignitary with the award in a small ceremony which was attended by federal ministers, the services chiefs and other senior ranking official at President House Islamabad.
Prior to this, Chinese dignitary had met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Monday.
Upon his arrival, Chinese Minister of National Defence was received by smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army which presented the Guard of Honour to visiting dignitary.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral defence collaboration were discussed. Visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s sincere efforts for regional peace and provision of secure environment for CPEC projects.
Army Chief had expressed gratitude to Chinese dignitary for his country’s unwavering support to Pakistan on all key issues at regional and international forums.
