The Sindh government has decided to expand the People’s Information Technology Program, enabling matric and intermediate pass students to receive free short IT courses.
According to details, the courses will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Information Science and Technology and offered through three leading universities — NED University Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Hyderabad, and IBA Sukkur.
Under the program, 35,000 students will be trained in three phases, with each phase accommodating 7,000 participants.
The courses will be two months long and offered free of cost under People’s IT Program.
So far, 13,000 students have completed short IT courses in the initial phase. The second phase of the project will cost Rs 1,400 million, which has already been allocated for the fiscal years 2025 and 2026.
