Pakistan marks 73rd Independence Day celebrations with unmatched sense of patriotism and nationalism today.
A traditional 31-gun salute was given in the federal capital Islamabad, followed by 21-gun salute in provincial capitals.
Especial prayers were offered for Pakistan’s prosperity and progress in Friday prayers across the country.
The primary Independence Day ceremony was held at President House in Islamabad. President Arif Alvi addressed the event and highlighted the struggle and sacrifices of Pakistan Movement which resulted in the creation of Pakistan on August 14th 1947.
“This auspicious occasion is a moment to reaffirm our pledge to continue pursuing the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The day is an occasion to pay tribute to all those sons of the soil who laid their lives while defending and protecting territorial as well as ideological frontiers of the motherland,” he said.
Furthermore, the premier also reiterated Pakistan’s undeterred and unconditional support to the people of Kashmir who have been subjected to illegal Indian occupation and atrocities by Indian security forces for more than 70 years.
Meanwhile, change of guard ceremonies were held at Mazaar-e-Quaid in Karachi, and Mazaar-e-Iqbal in Lahore.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took to social media to congratulate the nation on its 73rd Independence Day.
“I congratulate our nation on its 73 years of Independence. Our journey towards Quaid’s Pakistan has begun,” he tweeted.
In addition to it, PM Imran Khan commended the national effort to successfully tackle COVID-19 crisis.
“I congratulate the nation on successfully tackling COVID19 by protecting our poor through cash support & smart lockdowns & by being able to reduce our overall cases,” he noted.
The premier also highlighted the significant improvement in economy ‘after two years of struggle’, highlighting that current account and fiscal deficits are down, whereas construction industry and export sector is also showcasing substantial progress.
