The inaugural National Amateur Short Film Festival (NASFF) is set to promote, highlight and encourage new aspiring film makers in Pakistan.
The NASFF is an initiative aimed at providing opportunity to new film makers, enabling them to present their work at the national level.

The platform will act as a key catalyst in identifying young film making talent and encouraging country’s youth towards the field of film making.
NASFF is being held with the support of Pakistan Army’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) and its finale will be held in April 2021 next year. The winners of the competition will be given scholarships in prestigious film making institutes around the world.
Majid Saeed – a professor at National College of Arts (NCA) has praised the initiative saying that such festivals play a key role in providing necessary platform required to highlight and promote young talent in the country.
Showcasing Pakistan’s Positive Image
NASFF is primarily aimed at identifying and promoting the talent and creativity of Pakistani youth, who choose Film and Television production as their academic / professional careers. These students, while in their 3rd / 4th year of degree courses have immense potential and urge to showcase their ingenuity and flare.
The competition will have short films divided into following categories;
- Colors of Pakistan
- The Indus Identity
- Pakistan – A Cultural Melting Pot
- Empowerment Through Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
- Philanthropy in Pakistan
- Value Addition in Agricultural Products of Pakistan
Pakistan’s showbiz moguls as the ambassadors of NASFF
Pakistan’s showbiz moguls and industry veteran have been picked as the ambassadors of NASFF and include renowned celebrities including Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan, Gulsher Khan, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Wahaj Ali, Zara Noor Abbas, Farhan Saeed and Ayub Khosa.
“Glad to be the Karachi’s brand ambassador for National Amateur Short Film Festival. Kudos to NASFF for recognizing and developing proficiency of ambitious filmmakers all across Pakistan,” said Humayun Saeed.

How to apply?
Applicants can visit ISPR’s official website to download application forms for students and mobile phone category in both MS Word and PDF forms.

- Works entering the competition program can be of all genres: Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental Films.
- Fiction, Documentary and Animated Film duration is up to 12 minutes, whereas Experimental Films are exempted from this time limitation.
- The film can be in Urdu, English & Regional Languages with English subtitles (mandatory).
- The film entering the competition should have been produced after 1st January 2018.
- Filmmaker can submit only 1 film in each theme. Multiple entries in a single theme are NOT ALLOWED.
- Film once submitted for participation cannot be withdrawn. Furthermore, there will be no screening fee.

- In case the project file is larger than 2 GB, it may be burned on a DVD and dispatched via
- courier to Production Division, ISPR, Hilal Road, GHQ, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
- Registration is free. The deadline for registration is 1st Jan 2021.
- For Submission of Projects, the deadline is 10th March 2021.
