Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – the eleven party anti-government alliance has been left in disarray after issuance of show case notices to PPP, ANP over election of Yousuf Raza Gilani as opposition leader in the upper house.
As per details, PDM has issued show cause notice to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) over accusations of violating anti-government alliance’s principles by collaborating with federal government’s allies.

The show cause notices have been issued by PDM secretary general Shahid Khaqan Abbasi with the approval of PDM head and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Both parties have been directed to submit their response within a within a week over allegations of collaborating with Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) for the election of Yousuf Raza Gilani as leader of opposition in Senate.
PDM At Odds, Demands Separate Opposition Benches In Senate
PDM is at odds with over Senate opposition leader issue with PPP on one hand and PML-N, JUI-F with the latter demanding separate opposition benches in the upper house.

During Senate session on Monday (today), PML-N leader Senator Azam Nazir Tarrar demanded separate opposition benches in the upper house for 27 members belonging from PML-N JUI-F, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party and BNP (Mengal).
In response, PPP leader and Senate opposition leader Yousuf Raza Gilani’s supporters registered their protest against the allegations raised by the PML-N leaders.
Expressing his views on the Senate floor, Yousuf Raza Gilani reiterated his will to work with all opposition parties.
It is to be noted that PPP leader and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was elected as Senate opposition leader on March 26th via securing support of 30 Opposition senators for the prized post which has been a matter of contention between the PML-N and the PPP.
PML-N, JUI-F have since been at odds with PPP over the issue, with the former accusing the latter of ‘betraying’ the PDM.
