As part of the government’s decision in lifting the coronavirus lockdown, domestic flight operations are expected to resume at five major airports in the country from today.
According to details, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Friday, said that around 20 per cent of domestic flight operations will be restored from Saturday (today). However the flights will be limited to only 50 per cent of their total passenger capacity in a bid to ensure that social distancing measures are implemented.
“Passengers will be provided the opportunity to travel safely,” he said.
However, domestic flight operations will be limited to five major airports i.e. Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Islamabad International Airport (IIAP), Quetta International Airport, and Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport.
Furthermore, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also banned food and beverages on domestic flights, meanwhile airlines have been instructed to ensure the provision of personal protective equipment (PPEs) on flights.
“No food and beverages will be allowed during domestic flight. Airlines are required to maintain emergency PPE in every aircraft to deal with any health emergency during flight,” read the statement issued by CAA on social media.
As per the healthcare guidelines and SOPs issued by government, passengers will be required to fill a health declaration form before boarding the aircraft, which will include details regarding ones travel history, current health status etc.
