A fire erupted at the historic Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) building, burning down the mayor’s chamber, central office, and numerous precious belongings.
The fire initially broke out in a kitchen inside the mayor’s office at the old KMC building before spreading and reducing the central office and chamber to ashes. Precious furniture, LEDs, and other valuable items inside the office were also completely destroyed.
The blaze began in the kitchen on Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. Although firefighters eventually managed to douse the flames, nothing inside the mayor’s office could be saved.
Fire brigade officials stated that an electrical short circuit is the suspected initial cause of the fire.
