Awami National Party (ANP) has accepted an invitation from the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to join its protests against the petroleum levy and rising inflation.
Ameer-e- Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman spoke by telephone with ANP President Senator Aimal Wali Khan to discuss the country’s political situation, rising prices and the party’s planned sit-ins against the petroleum levy.
Hafiz Naeem also invited the ANP leader to participate in JI’s protests and sit-ins. Senator Aimal Wali Khan accepted the invitation and praised what he described as the JI’s efforts to raise public concerns.
He said inflation and the petroleum levy were not issues affecting any single political party, but problems faced by the entire country.
JI Ameer said all political and democratic forces should unite to defend public rights and oppose rising prices.
