The United Arab Emirates (UAE) stunned Pakistan by 11 runs in a low-scoring thriller and stormed into the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023 final.
The bowlers did an excellent job after restricting their opponents to 193 in 47.5 overs. Ubaid Shah, who was recently picked to play for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), finished with figures of 9.5-1-44-4.
Ali Asfand and Arafat Minhas picked up two wickets apiece. For the UAE, their skipper Aayan Afzal Khan scored 55 runs off 57 balls with seven fours. Opener Aryansh Sharma and Ethan D’Souza scored 46 and 37 respectively.
Pakistan stuttered in their run-chase and were bowled out for 183 in 49.3 overs. Skipper Saad Baig scored 50 runs, but his efforts could not pay dividends. Ali Asfand, Amir Hassan and Mohammad Zeeshan scored 16, 27 and 10 lower down the order, but couldn’t help Pakistan.
on the other hand Bangladesh made their way through to the final of the U19 Asia Cup 2024 after beating India by four wickets in the semi-final on Friday, December 15 at the ICC Academy Ground No 2 in Dubai.
They will now be facing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the final of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The UAE, on Friday, beat Pakistan by 11 runs at the ICC Academy Ground No 2, Dubai.
After being put in to bat first, India were bowled out for 188 in 42.4 overs. Musheer Khan and Murugan Abhishek scored 50 and 62 respectively, but their efforts went in vain. The duo was involved in a partnership of 84 runs for the seventh wicket after India were reduced to 61 for six in 15.5 overs.
Maruf Mridha was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with figures of 10-1-41-4. Rohanat Doullah Borson and Sheikh Parvez Jibon picked up two wickets apiece.
Bangladesh found themselves in trouble after being reduced to 34 for three, but Ariful Islam and Ahrar Amin put on 138 runs for the fourth wicket to put the Tigers in command.
Ariful scored 94 runs off 90 balls even as Amin made a patient 44 with three fours. Naman Tiwari and Raj Limbani got three and two wickets apiece for India, but Bangladesh chased down the target with 7.1 overs to spare.
