Karachi: Expo COVID-19 vaccination center employees go on strike over salary dues

Karachi’s Expo COVID-19 vaccination center has been closed after its workers have gone on strike over the issue of non-payment of their salaries.

As per details, data entry operators at Karachi’s Expo COVID-19 vaccination facility have gone on strike over the issue of salary dues.

The contract-based data entry operators have contended that they haven’t been paid in three months.

Around 300 data entry operators work at the Expo COVID-19 vaccination center in three different shifts.

The vaccination center at Karachi’s Expo has the capacity to carry out up to 30,000 vaccinations per day and stays open 24 hours. It has 12 registration counters with six blocks that contain 96 cubicles.

Each shift has an estimated 360 health workers to administer the COVID-19 vaccines

The development comes as Karachi’s COVID-19 positivity rate has escalated to 20.34% on Saturday (today) as Sindh reported a total of 1,631 new coronavirus cases, including the 1,314 cases from Karachi.
