NCOC approves second phase of reopening of educational institutions

The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday, approved the second phase of reopening of educational institutions, resumption of secondary classes from September 23rd .

The second phase of reopening of educational institutions will oversee the resumption of secondary classes in schools, from grade VI to VIII.

Punjab Education Minister Muraad Raas took to social media to announce resumption of secondary classes from Wednesday, September 23rd (tomorrow).

Prior to this, Sindh government last week had announced its decision to postpone the resumption of secondary classes after several faculty members, students and non-teaching staff had tested positive for the novel virus in various areas across Sindh.

Citing failure of schools’ administration in ensuring and implementing coronavirus preventive measures, guidelines and SOPs, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had stated that their priority is children’s health and not schools’ interests.

It is pertinent to know that NCOC had approved the phase wise reopening of educational institutions from September 15 under strict COVID-19 preventive measures and SOPs.
