Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity ratio on surpassed 3 per cent mark, announced Asad Umar on Thursday.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar took to social media to reveal that country’s coronavirus positivity ratio has surpassed the grim 3 per cent mark after a gap of 70 days.
“After more than 70 days the national covid positivity ratio was higher than 3 per cent yesterday,” he tweeted.
NCOC has tightened restrictions on some high risk public activities, he added.
The federal minister added that coronavirus spread can only be tackled if people strictly adhere to COVID-19 precautions and preventive measures.
The development comes as earlier, NCOC had directed markets, shopping malls, restaurants and shopping malls to be closed at 10 pm sharp amid increasing COVID-19 cases in the country on Wednesday.
NCOC has also made it mandatory to wear face masks in public, directing provincial administration to ensure strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and preventive measures, whereas uthorities in Federal Capital Islamabad have announced to penalize people who fail to wear masks in public via fines.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 331,108 cases with 6,775 deaths so far. A total of 908 cases along with 16 casualties were reported in the last 24 hours.
A total of 312,638 people have recovered from the novel virus in Pakistan, whereas 4,376,604 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
