‘Karachi girl’ Saira Peter is sending shockwaves through the world of music, high and low! Saira was the first to introduce operatic music to the people of Pakistan. During her debut performance at PC Karachi in 2016, media, diplomats and listeners all declared they had never experienced anything like it. They had just watched the world’s first ‘Sufi opera’®️ singer! They instantly recognised her unique role in representing Pakistan’s sufi heritage, a musical message of harmony and tolerance. Saira was positioned to influence people to celebrate peace and good will through the arts. She would even create her own sounds along the way, while employing seventeen languages in her international reach across the globe.

Since then she built on this unique identity. Creating her own unique fusion sounds to carry her message, she has been found in some of the most significant places of the world today: ‘From Karachi to the Ends of the Earth’. In 2019 she performed sufi opera compositions in the Presidential Palace of Islamabad. She treated her esteemed audience consisting of ex-President Dr Arif Alvi with his international guests. Her repertoire included a performance of Shah Latif’s Resplendent, an English translation of Tou Habib, tou tabib. In 2021 she took her unique sound to Konya where she featured as a solo performer in Rumi’s Mystik Müsik Fest arranged by Republic of Türkiye’s Konya Provincial Directorate of Culture. Earlier this year she was invited to performed sufi opera pieces for international dignitaries gathered at the US House of Congress, where she was formally recognized as an International Woman of Distinction. They presented her with the ‘She Leads the Nations’ award in consideration of her peace work as a sufi opera singer calling on nations to build international connections of friendship and goodwill. She was welcomed as a guest of the US State Department during her tour. While she was in the USA, Pakistan’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN, H.E. Asim Iftakhar Ahmad also took the opportunity to invite her to give a private concert for an audience of UN international media and Pakistani elite at his official New York residence. Afterward he honoured her with a special certificate of recognition.

Saira is someone who has always believed working hard is fundamental to living one’s dreams. Her educational achievements include an MSc in Physical Chemistry (Karachi) and MA Islamic History (Queen Mary, University of London). She not only grasps the physiology of sound, but the cultural significance in transforming cultures through celebrations of a message of peace and tolerance between diverse communities.

Currently, Saira is preparing to take this message to one of the world’s most iconic and historic concert venues – The Royal Albert Hall, London. On the evening of Saturday June 6th, superstar Saira joins a short list of Pakistani female legends who have headlined there. She is following in the footsteps of Madame Noor Jehan, Iqbal Bano and Abida Parveen. Indian performers who have had the privilege include Lata Mangeshkar, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ravi Shankar. Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan very recently gave his Royal Albert Hall debut in March 2026. Even Oscar winning Bollywood music director A.R. Rahman fulfilled his long-held dream to perform there just weeks ago, in April 2026. But Saira is certainly the youngest ever Pakistani vocalist to give a solo performance in this prestigious venue, which will be specially graced by the presence of Pakistan’s acting High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Haseeb bin Aziz, in addition to other dignitaries.

Saira will be accompanied by the largest ever number of Western classical musicians of any Asian artist who has ever performed there – there are over 525 musicians in total!

All Souls Orchestra, the Western orchestra that will accompany Saira, is divided into four main sections: strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. These are further subdivided into around 30 parts for the 20+ instruments. With the addition of a massive 400 voice choir singing 4 to 6 different parts, Saira faces the challenge of presenting her solo against the sound of 35 contrasting musical notes (35 different sur)! This means the ‘Karachi girl’ is expected to firmly hold her notes (surs/scale) above the sound of 35 other notes being simultaneously sung/played! On top of that, she is interspersing her own unique, electrifying Pakistani thaan throughout her songs – something the worlds of classical music either Eastern or Western, have never heard before! All Souls Music, the group behind the orchestra, are committed to promoting global peace and reconciliation between nations. They have collaborated with a wide range of international artists and, in Saira, they have discovered a great partner for this noble cause.

On the night, Superstar Saira will be introduced as the world’s first Sufi Opera®️ singer. She will be representing Pakistan’s culture and sufi values on the global stage. Although now holding a multiple British-American-Pakistani identity, Saira always pays tribute through her performances to the beloved land of her birth. She celebrates her origins through her dress, language and musical style. At the organiser’s request, Saira will sing her own original indigenous composition promoting peace and reconciliation between nations. It features Urdu poetry lyricised by British-Pakistani author and librettist Zafar Francis. Mr. Zafar has also penned the story of Umar Marvi for the world’s first Sufi Opera®️, ‘Marvi’s Tears.’ Composition is by Paul Knight and the work is directed by Jonny Danciger. Saira plays the heroine, Marvi.

Designed to support the advancement of the arts and sciences, aligning with Prince Albert’s aspirations for cultural development in the UK, The Royal Albert Hall was opened in 1871 by his widow, Queen Victoria. Boasting of a capacity of over 5,200, the exquisite grandeur and beauty of the Hall left the Queen wordless, so the welcoming speech had to be delivered by her son, Edward, the Prince of Wales: “her only recorded comment on the Hall was that it reminded her of the British constitution”! From its inauguration until today, the Hall has continued to host events for the cream of British society. In 1965 it played host to the funeral of the heroic British wartime leader, Sir Winston Churchill. Saira’s artistic forebear, Sir Benjamin Britten, the 20th Century Western classical icon and mentor of Saira’s own vocal coach, himself conducted orchestras at Royal Albert Hall on at least ten occasions between 1945-1971. Most recently, on 08 May 2026, the august venue served as the location for the 100th birthday celebration of legendary British natural historian Sir David Attenborough. It is fitting that Pakistan’s modern icon of peace, culture, grace and unparalleled artistic excellence, Saira Peter, will now stand shoulder to shoulder with these giants of history!
