JIT to investigate sedition case against PML-N leaders

A joint investigation team (JIT) has been constituted to investigate sedition case against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders.

A four-member JIT has been formed to investigate accusations of sedition against PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with various other party leaders.

According to sources, the JIT will be headed by CIA Superintendent of Police (SP) and will report to CCPO Lahore.

The JIT also includes CIA DSP Tariq Kiyani, the Shafiqabad DSP and Shahdara Investigations Incharge Shabbir Awan.

The development comes as earlier, various FIR’s were registered against PML-N founder Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and various other party leaders including hahid Khaqan Abbasi, Raja Zafarul Haq, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervaiz Rasheed, Khawaja Asif, Ameer Muqam, Khurram Dastagir, Marriyum Aurangzeb Ayaz Sadiq and others.

The FIR accusing PML-N leaders of sedition and making anti-national remarks/speeches was lodged by an individual named Badar Rasheed Khan.
