Pakistan has received 2.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from Unites States of America (USA) on Friday (today).
The announcement of delivery of 2.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was made by the official twitter account of US Embassy Islamabad.

The vaccines have been donated by US government under World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVAX initiative.
These vaccines will save lives and help Pakistan emerge from this crisis, which has devastated so many families and communities in both our countries, read the statement issued by US Embassy.
The US had so far provided US$ 50 million in COVID-19 related assistance to Pakistan, it added.
Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will significantly ease the issues faced by people wishing to travel abroad as Chinese vaccines are not acceptable in several gulf and western countries.
Prior to this, Pakistan had received 100,000 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine under the COVAX programme in May earlier this year.
COVAX is a global vaccine-sharing program by the World Health Organisation, the Gavi vaccine alliance, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). The program intends to supply a total of 17.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Pakistan.
Currently, Pakistan is utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
As per NCOC statistics, 13,234,851 people have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19 with 3,121,648 people being fully vaccinated against the novel virus with the country administering a total of 16,356,499 COVID-19 vaccine doses in total.
