PM Imran Khan held a telephonic conversation with Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi to mull over bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.
During the telephonic conversation on Sunday a day earlier, the two prime ministers expressed satisfaction at the upward trajectory of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen and deepen bilateral ties and cooperation.
According two the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two leaders affirmed that the establishment of border sustenance markets along Pakistan-Iran border would yield economic and social benefits for the people of both countries.
PM Imran Khan felicitated President-Elect Ebrahim Raisi on his victory in the Presidential elections held on 18 June 2021, which was a manifestation of Iranian people’s trust in his leadership.
Addressing the Afghan issue, PM Imran Khan raised concern at the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, warning that the latest developments could lead to serious repercussions for both Pakistan and Iran, resulting in an influx of refugees towards the bordering areas of the two countries.
Both sides emphasized the need to continue facilitating an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned inclusive political settlement.
PM Imran Khan stressed upon the imperative of a negotiated political solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

Both leaders the need to resolve Kashmir and Palestine which are long-standing disputes, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
