Railways to penalize passengers violating COVID-19 SOPs

Pakistan Railwasys (PR) has announced to penalize passengers found guilty of violating COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines in passenger trains.

According to Railway officials, passengers who fail to adhere to coronavirus preventive measures and SOPs will be fined Rs 500.

The penalty will be applicable on passengers who have not been using face masks and gloves, who don’t possess hand sanitizers and those who are violating basic social distancing protocols.

Furthermore, people who are found to be two-time violators will be fined double the amount i.e. Rs 1,000.

The decision comes as people travelling via trains have been found guilty of violating coronavirus preventive measures and authorities are struggling to strictly implement government SOPs.

It is to be noted that Pakistan Railways resumed its passenger operations from May 20 last month after the approval from National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) decided to ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions in the country.
