‘Sukhan-e-Jalib’ webinar – A five hour record breaking live stream remembering Habib Jalib

Progressive Thoughts International European Union organized a virtual seminar ‘Sukhan-e-Jalib’ in honor of Habib Jalib – renowned Pakistani poet and activist.

The webinar was attended by intellectuals, poets and artists from across the world who paid tribute to Habib Jalib for his services and contributions to society and poetry.

The first session of the five-hour webinar was presided by I.A Rehman – renowned human rights activists, whereas the second session was chaired by Dr Shah Muhammad Mari.

Chairman ‘Jalib Chair’ Saifullah Saifee was the convener of the webinar, whereas veteran journalist and television host Hamid Mir was the as Chief Guest.

The seminar began with the recitation of Holy Quran by President Rescue Kashmir Movement Ahmed Nadeem Butt, followed by prayers for  Nasir Abbas Jalib – Habib Jalib’s son, who passed away the previous year, along with terror victims and martyrs of Karsaz blast.

Expressing his views, Chief Guest Hamid Mir said that Habib Jalib had an essential spiritual aspect to his work and personality.

Habib Jalib’s life is a source of inspiration for today’s poets and intellectuals, he said.

Meanwhile, I.A Rehman highlighted that Habib Jalib never backed down in face of any adversities whatsoever.

Renowned poet Iftikhar Arif highlighted different kinds of journalistic work and stressed upon the intellectual responsibility on journalists.

During the second session of the virtual seminar, actor Mustafa Qureshi lauded the establishment of ‘Jalib Chair’.

Furthermore, especial messages from several intellectuals and poets such as Abid Hasan Manto, Anwar Shaoor, Abul Aziz Memon were also screened during the webinar.

Meanwhile, Habib Jalib’s daughter – Tahira Habib also attended the seminar and read out her father’s work.

Other attendees of the Sukhan-e-Jalib webinar include Javed Saba, Dr Tauseef Ahmed, Farrukh Sohail Goindi, Ishrat Afreen,  Munizae Jahangir – daughter of late Asma Jahangir, Waheed Bhatti, Khalid Hameed Farooqi,  Manoor Ahmed Razi, Fasih Syed, Dr Umar Daraz – President Faiz Cultural Foundation UK, general secretary Ali Khaqan Mirza, PPP UK President Mohsin Bari, journalist Mansoor Alim, and honorable Alderman Mushtaq Lasharie – Chairman CBE Third World Solidarity.

A special documentary on Habib Jalib by poet Javed Saba was also screened during the virtual seminar.
