Two soldiers martyred in cross-border attack from Afghanistan

Two Pakistan Army soldiers have been martyred in a cross-border terrorist attack from Afghanistan in North Waziristan.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), two soldiers embraced martyrdom after terrorist launched a cross-border attack on a military post in Dwatoi, North Waziristan from within Afghanistan.

The martyred soldiers have been identified as Havaldar Saleem – 43 and Lance Naik Pervaiz – 35.

The military spokesperson noted that the cross-border attack was befittingly responded by Pakistani troops.

Condemning the incident, ISPR said that Pakistan has consistently been asking Afghanistan to ensure effective border control on its side.

The development comes as earlier, Pakistan had ejected the remarks made by Afghan Foreign Ministry on TTP’s activities within Afghanistan.

The statement issued by MoFA highlighted that the 12th Report of the UN Monitoring Team, issued in June 2021, acknowledges TTP’s ‘distinctive anti-Pakistan objectives’ and notes its location within Afghanistan ‘near the border with Pakistan.’
